Newstead

Year 2010
Builder Adam Clayton Builders

This existing residence is a brick veneer federation dwelling in excellent condition which had a dysfunctional western extension added on during the 80s. The extension was a small lean to with aluminium sliding doors looking straight out towards a double carport in the middle of the large backyard.

The clients wanted to increase the size of the extension to contain a new kitchen, dining, laundry, wine cellar & ensuite. They also wanted to improve their view of the existing swimming pool so they could keep an eye on grandkids and add an outside covered area that didn’t reduce sunlight into the extension.

We decided to make the extension a contrasting form with weatherboard cladding & a distinct separation between the old and the new. The extension would consist of a single gable roof to accommodate solar panels for the swimming pool and a vergola covered patio. The double carport was relocated to the western boundary.

Adam Clayton Builders won MBA excellence in construction $200k to $350k.
